Winter is one of the best-kept secrets of Sharm El Sheikh. While much of Europe is grey and freezing, the Sinai coast stays warm, sunny and wonderfully uncrowded from November to March. If you are looking for winter sun without a long-haul flight, here is how to make the most of it.
Daytime temperatures usually sit around a pleasant 20–24°C with clear skies, cooling to sweater weather in the evening. The Red Sea stays a swimmable ~22–24°C, so the water is very much open for business.
The reefs do not close for winter. With a light wetsuit you can still snorkel Ras Mohammed and Tiran Island in beautiful visibility, often with fewer boats around. See our Red Sea boat trips.
Cooler weather makes a desert safari even more enjoyable – quad biking, a camel ride and a Bedouin dinner under a sky full of stars. Winter nights are crisp and perfect for stargazing.
Winter is the comfortable season for longer excursions: the pyramids in Cairo, the temples of Luxor, sunrise on Mount Sinai and St Catherine’s Monastery, or the Colored Canyon near Dahab.
Stroll the promenade at Naama Bay, haggle in the Old Market, enjoy the fountains at Soho Square, or simply unwind at a beach club or spa.
Fewer crowds and lower-season prices mean your money goes further – without giving up the sunshine. See all our tours and excursions or ask us on WhatsApp to build the perfect winter itinerary.
