A quick, practical guide to help you make the most of your trip to Sharm El Sheikh. This is general guidance only — please check official sources for the latest entry and health requirements before you travel.
Most visitors need a visa to enter Egypt. Many nationalities can obtain an e-Visa online in advance, or a visa on arrival. If you are staying only in the Sharm El Sheikh area, a free entry permit (a “Sinai-only” stamp) may be available — but this does not cover trips to Cairo, Luxor or elsewhere in Egypt, which require a full Egyptian visa. Day trips to other countries have their own entry requirements. Always confirm the current rules with the official Egyptian authorities or your embassy before travelling.
Sharm El Sheikh enjoys sunshine almost all year round. Spring and autumn are warm and very comfortable. Summer (June to September) is hot and ideal for the water. Winter days are pleasant and mild, with cooler evenings — bring a light layer for boat trips and desert nights.
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Our excursion prices are shown in British Pounds (GBP) for convenience. Carry some cash for drinks, souvenirs and tips. Tipping (“baksheesh”) is a normal part of the culture and always appreciated for good service, though never obligatory.
Drink plenty of water and protect yourself from the sun, which is stronger than it feels. Only swim and snorkel where it’s safe, and follow your guide’s advice at all times. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance for your trip, covering the activities you plan to do.
The Red Sea’s coral reefs are precious and protected — please don’t touch, stand on or remove anything. Egypt is a warm and welcoming country, and a little respect for local customs and modest dress away from the beach goes a long way.
For our excursions, we arrange hotel pick-up and drop-off within the Sharm El Sheikh area, so you don’t need to worry about transport on the day.
