Best Snorkeling Spots in Sharm El Sheikh (2026 Guide)

The Red Sea around Sharm El Sheikh is one of the best places on the planet to put your face in the water. Ras Mohammed National Park

Egypt’s first national park sits at the very tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where the Gulf of Suez meets the Gulf of Aqaba. It is the single most famous snorkeling area in Sharm, and for good reason. Highlights include:

• Shark & Yolanda Reef – dramatic drop-offs and swirling schools of fish (you do not need to worry, the “sharks” are long gone).
• Anemone City – a shallow garden of anemones and clownfish that is perfect for photos.

Tiran Island

Out in the Gulf of Aqaba, Tiran is ringed by four legendary reefs – Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon. The coral here is spectacular, with barracuda, snapper and the occasional turtle. Conditions are more open-water and there can be current, so Tiran suits confident swimmers. Most visits are full-day boat trips that stop at several reefs.

Shore snorkeling spots

You do not always need a boat. Great shore-accessible reefs include Ras Um Sid (sea fans and a coral wall), Ras Nasrani, Sharks Bay and the gentle coral gardens off Naama Bay – a good place for a first go.

• Use reef-safe sunscreen and never touch or stand on the coral – it is a protected, living reef.
